Oakham Community has Fun at Final Cutts Close Event of the Year

Oakham's Cutts Close was a hive of activity and community spirit this past Sunday, August 24, as Oakham Town Council hosted its final event of the summer season. The afternoon, saw a crowd of locals and visitors who gathered to enjoy the atmosphere.

A steady stream of people flowed through the park, browsing and shopping at a variety of stalls that offered a range of goods. The air was filled with the sounds of live music from local bands CJ Hatt and Vesper, as well as the smooth stylings of Zechariah Seekins on saxophone, adding a perfect soundtrack to the day.

A highlight of the event was the presence of the Rotary Club of Rutland, who were on hand to mark their 70th Anniversary. The milestone was a testament to their long-standing commitment to the community.

Attendees kept themselves refreshed with delicious food and drinks from various vendors, while many families chose to bring their own picnics and enjoying a meal on the grass. The event’s popularity was underscored by a clicker head count at 4:00 pm, which recorded an impressive attendance of 706 people.

Looking ahead, Oakham Town Council has announced that the upcoming Rutland Day, which was scheduled for Saturday, September 13, has been cancelled. However, the town can look forward to the next major event in the market place on Sunday, November 23, starting at 12:00 pm. This will be the much-anticipated Christmas Tree Light Switch On and Christmas Market. The Lions Club of Rutland’s Santa is confirmed to be in attendance, and the town is hopeful for clear skies this year to make the day even more magical.
