Gretton Launches Free Under-6s Football Training This Summer Saturday until 26th September 2026

Looking for a fantastic, active way to kick off your family’s weekends this summer? Gretton is serving up the perfect opportunity. The village has officially launched its brand-new Under-6s Football Training Sessions, offering local youngsters a brilliant introduction to the beautiful game in a relaxed, friendly environment.

Running every Saturday morning throughout the summer, these sessions are designed to get kids moving, learning basic skills, and most importantly having a blast.

Everything You Need to Know

Whether your little one is already kicking a ball around the garden or has never touched a football before, everyone is welcome.

Every Saturday morning from 09:00 to 10:30. The program is running right now and wraps up on Saturday, 26th September 2026.

Gretton Recreation Ground (accessed via Doctors Lane, just off Kirby Road), Gretton.

Completely FREE.

No Pressure, Just Turn Up.

One of the best things about these sessions is how stress-free they are for parents. There is no tedious online registration form, no upfront commitment, and no subscription fee.

The organisers want to keep things as accessible as possible. Parents and their budding football stars are invited to just turn up on a Saturday morning to take part. When you arrive, simply head over and speak with Dave Moffatt (affectionately known as "Moff"), who is heading up the sessions on the day.

It’s an interactive experience, and parents are warmly encouraged to join in the fun and support their youngsters as they take their first steps on the pitch.

Why Get Involved?

For children under six, football isn't about rigid tactics or intense competition. It's about developing essential physical skills like balance, coordination, and agility while learning to play alongside others. More than that, it's a wonderful community hub for Gretton families to meet, chat, and enjoy the fresh air.

With the summer weather finally here, there’s no better time to lace up some trainers and head down to the Recreation Ground.
