Oakham Man Sentenced Following High-Speed Police Pursuit in Lincolnshire
An Oakham man has avoided immediate jail time after leading police on a 10-mile pursuit across Lincolnshire while driving disqualified and without insurance.
Finn Weston, 20, of Derwent Drive, Oakham, was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday, October 29, 2026, after pleading guilty to multiple driving and drug offences.
Weston was handed a 14-month detention sentence in a Young Offender Institution, suspended for 18 months. The sentence comprises:
12 months for dangerous driving
2 months for driving while disqualified (running concurrently)
In addition to the suspended custodial sentence, the court disqualified Weston from driving for three years, ordering that he must pass an extended driving test before being allowed back on the road.
He was also given a probation requirement and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £187.
The court heard that on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at around 4:00 PM, Lincolnshire Police officers spotted Weston driving a silver Ford Focus on the A153 in Sleaford.
When requested to pull over, Weston failed to stop and continued driving for approximately 10 miles.
The pursuit finally came to an end near Tumby when his vehicle mechanically failed, forcing him to pull into a layby where officers arrested him.
Following his arrest, Weston was charged with:
Dangerous driving
Driving while disqualified
Driving without insurance
Failing to stop for police officers
Possession of drugs
He subsequently admitted to all charges during an appearance at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, before being sent to Lincoln Crown Court for final sentencing.
