Rutland Recycling Centres Temporarily Halt General Household Waste Disposal Amid National Pressures
Rutland County Council has urged residents to postpone non-essential trips to local recycling sites after being forced to temporarily suspend the acceptance of general household waste.
The restriction affects both of the county's Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) at Cottesmore and North Luffenham.
General household waste, along with certain bulky items like fridges, freezers, and upholstered seating, cannot currently be accepted at either site.
Both recycling centres remain open during normal operating hours.
Routine fortnightly kerbside black, grey, and green wheelie bin collections are continuing as normal.
Residents are asked to hold onto their general household waste and avoid visiting the HWRCs for general disposal until processing capacity is restored.
Council officials are working closely with waste management partners and contractors to explore alternative processing avenues and bring normal services back online as quickly as possible.
