Volunteer Directors Wanted to Strengthen the Board of Rutland & Stamford Sound

Rutland & Stamford Sound, a locally focused radio station, is actively seeking volunteer directors to join its Board. The station, which operates as a Community Interest Company (CIC), is looking for individuals with a range of expertise to help steer its growth and future development.

Operating differently from many other radio stations, Rutland & Stamford Sound is largely run by volunteers, a model that extends to its Board of Directors. The station has established itself over the past four and a half years as a highly regarded community radio station, serving as a reliable source of local news and information for its loyal listeners. This structure offers a unique opportunity for new directors to play a key role in shaping a much-loved community asset.

To strengthen its CIC Board, Rutland & Stamford Sound is seeking people who are able to provide strategic oversight and take responsibility for the delivery of certain tasks. The station is specifically looking for individuals who have expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Strategy and Resource Planning: Working with the Station Manager to agree on strategic objectives and ensure the necessary resources are in place for short- and long-term goals.

Project Delivery: Providing oversight to new projects, including maximising the benefits of a recent grant from Ofcom, which has enabled the recruitment of a part-time Business Development Officer.

Recruitment and Management of Volunteers: Helping to develop the volunteer team and broaden the volunteer base, particularly among young people.

Community Engagement: Representing the station locally and supporting the Station Manager in strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.

Fundraising: Including the identification of sources for grant funding.

Marketing and PromotionDeveloping and implementing a marketing plan to attract new listeners and advertisers.
