Leicestershire Firefighters Walking in Memory of Watch Manager Jon Partridge
Leicestershire and Rutland Fire and Rescue Service personnel are undertaking an extraordinary challenge this week, walking a grueling 254km in full fire kit to honour the memory of their colleague, Watch Manager Jon Partridge.
The commemorative walk, running from 9th October to 18th October 2025, sees the firefighters visit all 20 fire stations across Leicestershire and Rutland over the course of 10 days. The immense journey both starts and finishes at Billesdon Fire Station, where Watch Manager Partridge was based.
The dedicated team continues its challenging itinerary today, making its way through Rutland. They have successfully departed Melton Mowbray and are expected to arrive at Oakham Fire Station at approximately 1 pm this afternoon.
Following a brief stop in Oakham, the team will continue its march to Uppingham Fire Station, with an anticipated arrival time of approximately 3 pm. Local residents are encouraged to come out to the stations to show their support and cheer on the brave participants.
The epic journey is set to conclude this Saturday, 18th October 2025, with the team expected to arrive back at Billesdon Fire Station at approximately 2 pm. This final leg will mark the completion of the 254km challenge, all done while wearing the demanding, heavy fire kit.
Every step taken on the walk is in the spirit of generosity, with all funds raised being split between two vital beneficiaries:
Harry Partridge – Jon's son.

The Fire Fighters Charity – dedicated to supporting the physical, mental, and social well-being of the UK fire service community.
The entire endeavour is a heartfelt tribute, demonstrating the strong bond and commitment of the fire service family. The efforts of the Leicestershire and Rutland Fire and Rescue Service in undertaking this demanding walk highlight their dedication both to their fallen colleague and to supporting those who serve.
