Rutland Roads Update: Emergency Closures and Planned Works for July and August 2025

Rutland County Council is advising residents and commuters of several ongoing and upcoming road closures and traffic light installations across the county, urging drivers to plan their journeys accordingly. The Council is responsible for monitoring and coordinating roadworks to ensure public safety and minimise congestion.

Emergency Closures Currently in Effect:

Due to urgent repair works, the following roads are currently closed with diversions in place:

  • Back Lane and Church Street, Ryhall: These roads are closed for emergency repairs.

  • Manor Lane, Langham: This lane is also closed for emergency repair works.

The Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these unforeseen closures. It's important to note that emergency roadworks, often initiated by utility companies for issues like power cuts or burst water mains, may not always be listed immediately but are addressed as quickly as possible.

Upcoming Planned Road Closures (July - August 2025):

Residents should be aware of the following scheduled road closures:

  • South Luffenham (Station Road): From Monday, 21st July 2025 to Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, due to stop tap installation by Severn Trent Water. This will be a day/night closure.

  • Essendine (Bourne Road): From Monday, 21st July 2025 to Thursday, 31st July 2025, for resurfacing works by Thomas Bow/RCC. This will be a day/night closure.

  • Edith Weston (Normanton Road): From Thursday, 31st July 2025 to Tuesday, 12th August 2025, for resurfacing works by Thomas Bow/RCC. This will also be a day/night closure.

Traffic Light Installations:

Motorists in Uppingham should anticipate delays due to temporary traffic lights:

  • Uppingham (Stockerston Road): Two-way signals will be in operation from Monday, 21st July 2025 to Friday, 1st August 2025, for day/night work.

Rutland County Council continuously monitors road conditions and works to minimize disruption.
