Age Concern Returns to Oakham: Leicestershire and Rutland Charity to Re-establish Presence on Oakham High Street
After a period of absence from its prominent high street presence, Age Concern Leicestershire and Rutland is set to make a return to Oakham High Street, taking up residence in the former Barclays Bank building.
Age Concern Leicestershire and Rutland has a long history in Oakham, having previously occupied premises in at least two different locations on the High Street.
The former Barclays Bank at 10 High Street, which closed its doors to customers in April 2023, presents an ideal location for the charity shop.
Age Concern Leicestershire and Rutland offers a comprehensive range of services designed to promote the well-being of older people and make later life a fulfilling experience. These services, many of which are free, include:
Information and Advice: Covering welfare benefits, housing, money matters, health and care, and local services.
Befriending Service: Providing vital social connection for housebound individuals through home visits and telephone support.
Support for Carers: Offering guidance and assistance to those caring for older family members.
Dementia Support Service: Providing one-to-one support, information, and access to memory cafes and social groups.
Day Clubs: Offering daytime care, activities, and friendship for individuals with dementia, mobility issues, or mental health concerns.
Practical Help: Including a handyman and gardening service, footcare, and help with home energy checks to reduce bills.
