Rutland County Museum in Oakham is launching a special exhibition today, Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE Day). Titled "VE Day 80: Stories from the Collection", the exhibition offers a unique look into Rutland's wartime experiences.

Running until Saturday, June 14th, 2025, this poignant display features items from the museum's archives that are not usually on permanent view, alongside recent acquisitions related to World War Two. Visitors can delve into the county's specific links with the Royal Navy during the war years.

A particularly compelling section explores a fascinating collection connected to a local Prisoner of War, providing personal insights into the hardships and resilience of that time. The exhibition serves as a thoughtful local tribute marking this significant 80th anniversary.

Opening Hours: The Museum is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Last Entry: Please note that the last entry to the museum is at 3:45 PM.

Important Closure Information: The Museum is closed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays, and all Bank Holidays. Therefore, it will be closed this coming Bank Holiday Monday, May 5th.
