Join the Team Uppingham School is Hiring Four New Domestic Cleaners
Are you an experienced cleaner looking for a stable, part-time role in a world-renowned educational setting? Uppingham School is currently looking for four dedicated Domestic Cleaners to join their hardworking team.
These roles are essential to the daily operations of the school, ensuring that both pupil houses and central buildings remain clean, safe, and welcoming "homes away from home" for the student body.
A Varied and Vital Role
This isn't just a standard cleaning job; it’s a multifaceted domestic support role. As one of the four new team members, your responsibilities will span two key areas:
High Standard Cleaning: You will be responsible for the thorough upkeep of school buildings, including washing, dusting, polishing, vacuuming, and sweeping. This also includes deep-cleaning carpets, soft furnishings, bedding, and fixtures.
Domestic Support: You will assist with the "heart of the home" duties, such as meal presentation, serving meals, and managing laundry services for the pupils.
Flexible Working Patterns
Uppingham School is offering two distinct shift patterns to help candidates find a schedule that suits their lifestyle. Both options offer 23.35 contract hours per week:
Term-Time Focused: 6 days per week (Monday to Saturday), 36 weeks per year. Typical hours are 9:15 am – 2:25 pm.
Year-Round Rotation: 5 days out of 7 per week. This involves working Monday to Friday with one full weekend of work per month. Typical hours are 9:15 am – 2:25 pm.
Salary: £15,240.78 per annum.
Who Should Apply?
The school is looking for individuals who take real pride in their work and have a friendly, professional demeanor. Ideal candidates will have:
Previous experience in professional cleaning or domestic service.
The ability to maintain high standards under a set schedule.
A helpful attitude when interacting with pupils and staff.
Reliability and a strong sense of teamwork.
Safeguarding and Application Details
Because you will be working within a school environment, Uppingham School maintains a rigorous safeguarding policy.
Closing Date: 26 April 2026, 11:59 pm. (Note: The school may close the vacancy early if enough suitable applications are received, so early application is encouraged!)
Requirements: Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Disclosure: This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; all prior convictions or cautions must be declared.
