The school is currently inviting applications for a dynamic and inspiring Organist to join its thriving Music Department and provide the harmonic backbone to its prestigious choral programme.
This role is a perfect fit for a skilled performer who enjoys the unique acoustics of a school chapel and the rewarding challenge of mentoring young vocalists.
The Heart of the Choral Programme
Oakham School boasts an impressive vocal community, with over 80 pupils participating across its Chapel and Chamber choirs. As the school Organist, you will be at the very center of this musical ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
Accompaniment: Providing expert accompaniment for the school’s vibrant choral ensembles.
Weekly Services: Playing for Wednesday and Thursday morning practices and chapel services.
Occasional Duties: Providing musical support for special events and additional services as required.
Inspiration: Working collaboratively with the music faculty to inspire and develop the school's young musical talent.
Compensation & Contract Details
This position is offered on a Zero-Hours Contract basis, providing flexibility for a professional musician with other performance or teaching commitments.
Hourly Rate: £48.08 per hour (reviewed annually).
Weekly Commitment: Typically three hours per week.
Travel: Travel expenses are provided in addition to the hourly rate.
Region: Central (Oakham School Campus).
