Discover Rutland's Wild Side at the Rutland Natural History Society's Annual Open Day
On Saturday, August 9, 2025, the Rutland Natural History Society is inviting nature enthusiasts and curious minds of all ages to their Annual Open Day at the Ketton Scout Hut (PE9 3SZ). This free event, running from 10:15 AM to 3:30 PM, promises a day of wildlife discovery, education, and outdoor fun.
The day's highlight is the opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity of Ketton Quarry. Led by knowledgeable members of the Society, there will be two guided sessions: a morning walk from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM and an afternoon session from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Participants will have the chance to search for the diverse and fascinating wildlife that thrives in this unique local nature reserve.
Inside the Ketton Scout Hut, visitors can engage with various displays and workshops. Members of the Rutland Natural History Society, including wildlife recorders, will be on hand to share their expertise, discuss the Society's aims, and answer questions.
