Celebrate the Start of Summer at the Oakham May Fayre Dance Today!

Oakham Castle is set to be filled with the vibrant sights and sounds of traditional English festivities this morning as the Oakham May Fayre Dance takes place. Scheduled for today, Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, the event runs from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM and offers free admission to all.

Held in the historic grounds of Oakham Castle (Market Place, Oakham, LE15 6DR), the May Fayre is a delightful celebration marking the beginning of summer. Organised by the same team responsible for the popular Magical Lantern Walk, this event aims to bring the community together.

Attendees can look forward to watching local children perform traditional maypole dances, complete with colorful ribbons, bells, and flowers. Adding to the lively atmosphere will be performances by the esteemed Rutland Morris dancers. For those feeling inspired, there's even a chance to join in the fun with a 'have-a-go' Morris dancing session. Alongside the dancing, seasonal craft activities will also be available.

This community-building project is made possible with the valued support of Rutland Morris, Oakham Castle, Rutland County Council, and Oakham Town Council.

Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to embrace a traditional start to the summer season. Head down to Oakham Castle this morning for a couple of hours of free, festive fun for all ages!
