Thanks to the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, free guided tours of historic Oakham will be offered during National Lottery Open Week.  

This is a fantastic opportunity to delve into the town's rich medieval past and discover the stories behind its iconic landmarks.

Free 20-30 Minute Guided Tours

Join knowledgeable guides for a fascinating walk through time, exploring the medieval history of Oakham, the county town of Rutland.  Mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, Oakham boasts a captivating history waiting to be uncovered.

Tour Highlights:

Oakham Castle: The tour commences at Oakham Castle, home to England's most complete Norman Great Hall. This magnificent structure offers a glimpse into the lives of medieval lords and ladies.
