Shop Local, Support Your Local Shops Or Lose Them

The nominations are in, and the excitement is building! Voting is now officially open for the 2024-25 Rutland & Stamford's Favourite Independent Shop competition, brilliantly organised by our local MP, Alicia Kearns. This initiative is a fantastic opportunity to highlight and celebrate the fantastic independent shops that make Rutland and Stamford so special.

With a diverse range of nominations across 15 vibrant categories, this is your chance to champion your favorite local businesses—from unique boutiques and welcoming cafés to specialty grocers and creative artisans. This year’s competition not only shines a light on the essential role these independent retailers play in our community but also encourages all of us to shop locally, promoting economic vitality and sustainability.

Casting your vote is easy and will only take a few moments, yet it holds great power. Whether you adore a local florist, cherish a quaint bookshop, or eagerly frequent your favorite restaurant, now is the time to express your appreciation. Voting remains open until Friday, January 31, 2025, so there’s plenty of time to support the shops that bring joy and character to our towns.

Alicia Kearns, your MP for Rutland and Stamford, emphasises the importance of this initiative: “Independent shops are the heartbeat of our community and economy. I urge everyone to take part in this process to recognize the outstanding independent retailers that enrich our lives every day.”

This competition not only fosters community spirit but also encourages increased foot traffic to our local shops, allowing residents to discover new favorites and reinvigorate their shopping habits. Each vote is a powerful endorsement that can help elevate deserving businesses into the spotlight, acknowledging their hard work and unwavering commitment.

To get involved, head to the official competition website, where you can find all the information you need to cast your vote for your favourite independent shops.
