A United Step of Faith: Oakham Churches Together Mark Good Friday
This Good Friday, April 18th, 2025. Church-going residents from across the town's diverse congregations united in visual testament to their shared faith, participating in the annual Oakham Churches Together Walk of Witness.
The solemn procession commenced at St John and St Anne's Chapel with members carrying a simple, wooden cross.
The destination of this unified pilgrimage was the historic Butter Cross, a central landmark in Oakham that has witnessed centuries of community life. Here, gathered together as one body, the churchgoers participated in a joint service. Prayers were offered, hymns resonated through the air, and scripture was read, all focusing on the profound meaning of Good Friday.
Following the service, in a gesture of fellowship and the sharing of blessings, attendees distributed hot cross buns to those present.
