Rutland residents had their chance to share their views with the nation today as GB News reporter Will Hollis visited the county, conducting a series of interviews in Oakham, Uppingham and the surrounding area. The day's discussions highlighted the strong local pride and unique character of Rutland, while also touching upon broader political themes.

Hollis's stopped in Oakham, where he spoke with Rob Persani, a presenter at Rutland and Stamford Sound. Persani emphasised the deep affection residents hold for their county and its distinctive qualities, a sentiment likely echoed by many Rutlanders.

Also in Oakham, Ron Simpson, representing The Countryside Charity for Rutland and Stamford, shared his perspective. The Countryside Charity plays a vital role in preserving and enhancing the rural landscape.

Gina Bradbury Fox, owner of the Outdoor Guide and sister of well-known television personality Julia Bradbury, also contributed to the day's discussions.

Hollis then travelled to Hungry Birds Coffee shop to speak with Joyce Lucas BEM. A former Rutland County Councillor from the time Rutland regained its independence.

Later in the afternoon, the focus shifted to politics with an interview with Sir Alan Duncan at the statue of the late Queen. Duncan's interview included a special message for Angela Rayner, along the line of leave Rutland alone! Duncan was a MP at the time Rutlanders were fighting to regain their independence from Leicestershire, he was Rutland's MP for many years.

The overarching message from the day's interviews, and perhaps a sentiment shared by many in Rutland, was a plea to "leave Rutland alone," suggesting a desire to preserve the county's unique identity and way of life.
