Cottesmore Boxing Day Hunt Sees Unusually Low Turnout.

The Cottesmore Hunt's annual Boxing Day meet at Stapleford Park near Melton Mowbray saw an unusually low turnout this year. Traditionally, this event attracts a large crowd of supporters, offering a chance for the hunt to showcase its activities to a wider audience.

Anti-hunt saboteurs. Speaking to a local radio station "We welcome these once a year festive flockers to turn up to a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday hunt meet of the Cottesmore and you will see their true colours. Fox hunting, violence and dangerous use of public highways will all be on display."

The event at Stapleford Park passed peacefully.

The reasons behind the lower-than-expected turnout remain unclear. Several factors could have contributed, including: Public opinion towards fox hunting has shifted in recent years, with many viewing it as an outdated and cruel practice. Increased media attention and scrutiny from animal rights groups may have deterred some potential attendees.

The low turnout may have a significant impact on the hunt's fundraising efforts. Boxing Day meets are crucial for generating income and raising awareness within the local community.
