Green-wood by Design, Oakham, Rutland, Enters Liquidation Amid Customer Allegations
The abrupt closure of local business Green-wood by Design Ltd has sparked controversy, with customers contacting the Oakham and Rutland News and other organisations to allege they have lost deposits following the shop's closure at 2 The Maltings, Mill Street, Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6EA.
The joinery firm, which operated from the Oakham address, has ceased trading, leading to numerous allegations from individuals who claim they are out of pocket.
Customer Claims Met with Firm Denial
Customers reaching out to the Oakham and Rutland News have made various claims regarding the sudden shuttering of the business, with the loss of deposits for work that was never completed being their most significant concern.
Oakham and Rutland News contacted one of the owners of Green-wood by Design to seek clarification on the matter. They responded with a formal statement addressing the situation and denying all allegations:
"Green-wood by Design Ltd is currently in the process of formal liquidation, with a licensed insolvency practitioner appointed to handle all matters relating to creditors and customers. Any legitimate claims or concerns should be directed to the appointed liquidator, who is managing this in accordance with UK insolvency law. The allegations regarding deposits and other allegations are entirely false. These statements are part of an ongoing campaign of harassment by an individual currently under police investigation."

I paid James and Hetty Arnold £15,000 earlier this year, they didn't do any work, or return calls after taking our deposit, we are broken by it, thank you for publishing this
ReplyDeleteWhere do I start. We paid £17,700 in June this year for an oak frame for our garage. Jamie and Harriet Arnold came out and sold me the dream of a beautiful oak frames garage. They showed the me photos of their shop in Oakham and photos of lots of buildings they had claimed to have been involved in. At this point, I didn’t release Harriet’s business had closed, and that their other business, Country Oak Frames, had gone bankrupt owing people thousands.
ReplyDeleteWe believed and trusted them. Since June, Jamie wouldn’t return even one phone call. We are utterly devastated. How can anyone do this?
We have paid £20k upfront and 1 year later nothing has been done and has not returned attempts to communicate. He has done this many times, it’s all on Trust Pilot comments for GREEN WOOD BY DESIGN and liquidator who apparently is looking into paying back for work that wasn’t done. Jamie Arnold you have my details so where is the £20k I paid ???
ReplyDeleteDeposit paid over £17,000 then he just vanished how can he get away with this!! It appears he was never going to for fill the order and just wanted the money not the first time either. Evidence from subsequent supplier shows his drawings and calculations would have failed anyway leading us to believe his intention was to grab the money and run. He must be stopped it’s ruining people’s hopes and dreams
