Rutland Police: Safer Streets Team in Oakham

2015

Rutland Police's Safer Streets team is continuing its proactive community engagement, with officers PC Rob and PC Dave scheduled to be in Oakham Town Centre this Wednesday, August 20th. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., they will be available to speak with market traders and members of the public about local concerns.

The visit is part of the ongoing Safer Streets Summer Campaign, a government-supported initiative focused on tackling crime and anti-social behavior through increased police visibility and community collaboration. The campaign also prioritizes support for victims.

Since beginning their roles in June, PC Rob and PC Dave have made a significant impact across Melton, Oakham, and Uppingham, achieving a series of positive results:

  • 31 separate charges for crimes committed in town centers

  • 3 offenders sentenced to prison

  • 2 offenders remanded in custody awaiting trial

  • 1 suspended sentence

  • 1 offender awaiting a court date

The Rutland Police encourage residents and business owners to take this opportunity to meet the team, discuss any issues, and learn more about how they are working to keep the community safe.
