Rutland Police: Safer Streets Team in Uppingham

Rutland Police's Safer Streets team, led by officers PC Rob and PC Dave, is continuing its proactive community engagement efforts. This Friday, August 15th, the team will be at the Uppingham Town Centre from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., specifically to speak with market traders and the public.

This event is a great opportunity for residents and local business owners to talk directly with the officers about any concerns they may have. The team is also available to discuss crime prevention strategies and provide updates on the ongoing Safer Streets Summer Campaign.

Since starting their roles in June, PC Rob and PC Dave have already demonstrated their effectiveness in Melton, Oakham, and Uppingham. Their efforts have resulted in:

  • 31 separate charges for crimes committed in town centres

  • 3 offenders sentenced to prison

  • 2 offenders remanded in custody awaiting trial

  • 1 suspended sentence

  • 1 offender awaiting a court date

The Safer Streets initiative, which is supported by the government, focuses on reducing crime and anti-social behavior by increasing police visibility, fostering community connections, and implementing targeted enforcement actions.

Inspector Darren Richardson encourages everyone to come down and engage with the team to learn more about how they are working to make our streets safer this summer.
