Oakham Firefighters Tackle Two Field Fires, Causing Power Outage in Whissendine

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service from Oakham Fire Station has issued an incident alert as crews battle two separate field fires in Rutland. The fires, one located north of Whissendine near Melton Mowbray and the other situated between Whissendine and Langham, have caused significant disruption, including a complete power outage in Whissendine village.

Seven fire pumps have been deployed by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service to tackle the blazes across both sites. The fires have also affected overhead power lines, leading to the power cut.

National Grid has been made aware of the situation and is currently working to restore power to the affected area. The estimated time for power restoration is 21:00 hrs.

Residents in Whissendine and the surrounding areas are advised to exercise caution and avoid the affected locations to allow emergency services to work effectively. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
