On Sunday, 8th November 2026, animal lovers, handlers, and supporters will gather for the Remembrance Day Sponsored 'Stay' at Meadow View Dog Paddock and Training, located near Braunston-in-Rutland.
This poignant gathering brings together up to twenty scent and agility school team dogs and their handlers for a challenge that runs far deeper than basic obedience.
A Test of Focus, Trust, and Triumph
For three minutes and forty-eight seconds, the dogs and their handlers will attempt a synchronized stay to the stirring strains of "Honour Him" from the cinematic classic Gladiator.
While a three-minute stay might sound simple to the uninitiated, it is an immense hurdle for these specific dogs. Many have worked tirelessly alongside their owners to overcome profound behavioral challenges. Achieving this level of composure in a group setting is not just a test of training it represents a massive personal triumph for both hound and handler, showcasing the unbreakable bond forged through patience and positive reinforcement.
Giving Back to Life After Service
The event is more than a display of canine discipline; it is dedicated to raising vital funds for Hero Paws – Life after Service.
Hero Paws is a dedicated UK charity that champions retired working dogs from the military, police, prison service, search and rescue, and other frontline sectors.
When a working harness comes off, the transition into retirement can bring physical injuries, behavioral adjustments, and the shock of leaving a hyper-structured environment. Hero Paws steps in to provide essential rehoming, specialised veterinary care, behavioural support, and lifelong welfare.
Organisers emphasise that every single penny raised during the sponsored stay will go directly toward supporting these four-legged heroes who have given so much for their country and handlers.
