The Oakham Art Collective Brings a Creative Showcase to Victoria Hall
Oakham's vibrant art scene is on full display as the Oakham Art Collective presents a special exhibition at the Victoria Hall. As part of the wider Northampton and Rutland Open Studios (NROS) festival, this local group of seven artists is showcasing their work from Saturday, September 13th, through Sunday, September 14th.
The exhibition is open to the public from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with free admission for all.
The Oakham Art Collective's exhibition is a highlight of the NROS event, which sees over 400 artists participating across both counties throughout September. Visitors to the Victoria Hall will find a diverse collection of pieces, with mediums including oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolours, mixed media, and textiles. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their creative processes, and even purchase original artworks.
This year marks a particularly exciting time for the local art community, as Oakham is a central hub for the NROS festival. In addition to the collective at Victoria Hall, Oakham Castle is also participating for the first time with an exhibition titled "Creatives at the Castle." This parallel event features 11 local artists working in a variety of disciplines, from photography and ceramics to sculpture and glass.
The Northampton and Rutland Open Studios is an annual event that aims to make art accessible to everyone. The festival features a main central exhibition at the beautiful Lamport Hall, where over 500 artworks from 270 artists are on display. Throughout the month, artists across the counties open their studios to the public, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their creative spaces. To help guide visitors, brochures with maps and details on all participating artists and venues are available at the castle and various shops and hotels around Oakham and the wider area.
Whether you're a serious art collector or simply looking for a unique weekend activity, the Oakham Art Collective exhibition at the Victoria Hall provides a perfect opportunity to support local talent and immerse yourself in the rich cultural life of the area. It's a chance to see beautiful creations, chat with the people who made them, and perhaps find the perfect piece to take home.
For more information on all the artists and events, you can pick up a brochure or visit the NROS website. Remember to look for the distinctive yellow banners and posters that mark participating venues.
