On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Rutland Day was marked by a modest but meaningful event at Oakham Castle. The celebration, which honored the UK's smallest historic county, included a local gathering that brought together residents and community leaders.
Rutland Flag Flies at House of Commons
A historic first for the county also took place on Rutland Day, as the Rutland county flag was flown in the palace yard at the House of Commons in London. This was the first time the flag had been displayed there, a significant moment for the county's identity and recognition on a national level. The event was made possible after Rutland and Stamford MP Alicia Kearns successfully requested permission from the Speaker of the House.
