On the morning of Armistice Day, November 11th, 2024, the historic grounds of Oakham Castle echoed with the echoes of remembrance. A poignant ceremony, led by the Venerable (Air Vice Marshall) John Ellis CB RAF Rtd, marked the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. As the clock struck eleven, a hush fell over the gathered crowd. A two-minute silence enveloped the castle grounds, a moment of reflection dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The silence was a stark reminder of the countless lives lost in conflicts past and present. The ceremony honoured the bravery and sacrifice of those who served and continue to serve in the Armed Forces. It was a time to reflect on the importance of peace and to pay tribute to those who fought for freedom.
