Police Appeal Following Serious Collision near Empingham
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for public assistance after a major road traffic incident left a motorcyclist with serious injuries on Friday, February 20.
The collision occurred at approximately 5:54 PM on Stamford Road, near Empingham. The incident involved two vehicles, A black Suzuki motorcycle and white van.
Emergency services, including the East Midlands Ambulance Service, attended the scene immediately. The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was transported to the hospital where he remains in serious condition.
The driver of the van, a 54-year-old man, was not injured during the encounter. He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Police have confirmed that the driver has since been released under investigation as detectives continue to piece together the events leading up to the crash.
Detective Constable Madeleine Hayes is leading the investigation and is urging anyone who was in the Stamford Road area on Friday evening to come forward.
"Our investigation remains ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw either of the vehicles in the area prior to the collision to make contact," said DC Hayes. "If you have any dashcam footage from the area, we also ask that you get in touch."
