The local community of Oakham gathered today to pay their respects to Corporal Shaun Darren Leigh (Robbo) ROBERTS, a respected member of the Royal Anglian Regiment. The funeral service, held at All Saints Church, was a solemn occasion marked by full military honours.

The local community of Oakham gathered today to pay their respects to Corporal Shaun Darren Leigh (Robbo) ROBERTS, a respected member of the Royal Anglian Regiment. The funeral service, held at All Saints Church, was a solemn occasion marked by full military honours.

Corporal Roberts, who was based at Kendrew Barracks in Cottesmore, dedicated his military career to serving his country. He served with distinction in both the 1st Battalion (The Vikings) and the 2nd Battalion (The Poachers), earning recognition for his gallant and distinguished service in Afghanistan.

The funeral procession was a poignant moment, with Church Street closed to traffic and members of his regiment lining the street as a guard of honour. Following the service, a military salute was fired in tribute within the churchyard.

The loss of Corporal Roberts has deeply affected his family, friends, and colleagues. His regiment has extended their support to his wife, four children, and other family members during this difficult time.

A private cremation service is scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Salisbury Crematorium, followed by a wake on Friday, December 6, 2024, at St. Paul’s Conservative Club in Salisbury.
