Oakham Man Takes on 121-Mile Challenge for Royal British Legion

Local Oakham resident, Martin Brookes, is putting on his running and walking shoes this November for a special cause. He's embarked on an ambitious challenge to run and walk a staggering 121 miles throughout the month, all in memory of those who lost their lives serving their country.

Martin's dedication extends far beyond the miles. He's aiming to raise vital funds for the Royal British Legion, a charity that provides crucial support to the Armed Forces community year-round. From serving personnel to veterans, ex-service men and women, and their families, the Royal British Legion offers practical help, advice, and a network of support.

"Every mile I cover is a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served," Martin says. "Whether they fought in the First World War or a recent conflict, their bravery deserves to be remembered. I'm hoping this challenge will not only honour their memory but also raise valuable funds to assist the Royal British Legion in their vital work."

Martin's dedication is inspiring, but he can't do this alone. He's reaching out to the Oakham and Rutland community for support. Every donation, big or small, will help him reach his fundraising goal and make a real difference to the lives of veterans and their families.

Here's how you can help:

Together, we can show our appreciation for the sacrifices made by our brave service personnel and support the Royal British Legion in their mission to care for those who have served.

Let's make every mile Martin runs or walks count!
