Strictly Come Hedgelaying A "Fab-U-Lous" Day Out at the Lyndon Fete, Sunday, 2nd August 2026

By Martin Brookes

Get ready to polish your dancing shoes and sharpen your countryside knowledge. The charming village of Lyndon is once again preparing to host its highly anticipated Summer Fete, and this year promises to be another unmissable event filled with glamour, tradition, and community spirit.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, 2nd August 2026, when the village will come alive with a star-studded lineup and a classic British fete atmosphere.

The event will be officially opened by none other than Strictly Come Dancing legend Craig Revel Horwood. Craig isn't just there to cut the ribbon; he will be bringing his signature flair to the judging panel for the "Out-Rage-Ous Outfit" competition. Attendees are encouraged to go all-out-the more flamboyant and creative your ensemble, the better your chances of impressing the judge.

Adding a touch of rustic expertise to the day, charismatic hedgelayer and best-selling author Richard Negus returns to Lyndon. Following his sensational, "sell-out" success at the recent Nevill Holt Festival with his Words from the Hedge event, Richard will be sharing his passion for the English countryside.

He will delve into why our hedgerows are the vital "arteries of the land" and how they serve as essential lifelines for our native wildlife. You can learn more about his unique perspective on the landscape here: Words from the Hedge: A Hedgelayer's View of the Countryside.

Classic Fete Fun for Everyone

Beyond the celebrity appearances, the Lyndon Summer Fete is packed with quintessential entertainment for the whole family:

Enjoy the soul-stirring sounds of the Corby Silver Band and the traditional charm of the Rutland Morris Dancers.

Test your luck at the Wheelbarrow Raffle or the Lucky Dip, try your hand at the Village Stocks, or enter your furry friend into the Fun Dog Classes.

Indulge in treats from Madam Waffle, enjoy a classic BBQ, or relax with a refreshing drink from the bar and traditional teas.

Don't miss the famous Pre-loved Lyndon Stall, perfect for picking up a unique bargain.

Supporting a Great Cause

While the day is designed to be a "fab-u-lous" experience, it is also rooted in community support. All proceeds and donations from the fete will go directly to the Leicestershire and Rutland Branch of The MND Association (Charity No. 294354) and St Martin’s Church, Lyndon.
