Neighbourhood policing across Rutland is seeing a major push toward visibility and community engagement, highlighted by a series of proactive foot patrols and leadership shifts aimed at addressing hyper-local concerns.
Recently, local familiar faces PCSO Andy and PCSO Beth took to the streets for extensive, high-visibility foot patrols tracking across all four of the Rutland beats. Covering a combined total of over 10,000 steps, the officers walked through key town centres and villages including Uppingham, Wing (South Rutland), Ryhall (North Rutland), and Oakham town centre. These face-to-face interactions form a foundational pillar of Leicestershire Police's strategy to deter opportunistic crime, establish a reassuring physical presence, and directly gather intelligence from the people living and working in the community.
New Leadership Anchoring Melton and Rutland
This push for grassroots visibility ties directly into the broader strategy led by Inspector Rowan Paterson-Bell, the newly appointed Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA) Commander for Melton and Rutland.
Under his direction, the force is aligning its daily operations to combat the specific daily issues impacting the community.
As part of the recent Neighbourhood Policing Week campaign, Leicestershire Police highlighted the vital work being done by inspectors, sergeants, and front-line PCs across the region. Members of the public are encouraged to actively engage with their local teams and stay updated on local crime mitigation efforts.
