Rutland's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Rupert Matthews, has announced the allocation of £75,000 to support initiatives aimed at protecting young women and girls from sexual violence.

Rutland's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Rupert Matthews, has announced the allocation of £75,000 to support initiatives aimed at protecting young women and girls from sexual violence.

The funding will be used to provide training, support, and guidance to community-based groups, grassroots organisations, charities, sports clubs, and youth clubs. The goal is to equip these organisations with the necessary tools to identify and address issues of sexual violence within their communities.

PCC Matthews acknowledged the increasing prevalence of sexual violence, particularly in the digital age, and emphasised the importance of offering more support to victims. He encouraged groups interested in applying for the training package to contact him by October 14th.

This initiative demonstrates Rutland's commitment to safeguarding young women and girls and creating a safer environment for all.

PCC Rupert Matthews Takes to the Dance Floor for Living Without Abuse!

Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland's Police and Crime Commissioner, Rupert Matthews, is stepping outside his usual duties and into the world of sequins and salsa!

He's one of seven brave novice dancers who will be waltzing and twirling their way through a ten-week training program to compete at the LWA Strictly Glitterball Finale on Saturday, November 16th.

This exciting event is being held to raise vital funds for Living Without Abuse (LWA), a local charity that supports women, men, and children who have experienced domestic abuse or sexual violence.

Why the LWA Strictly?

Commissioner Matthews is passionate about supporting those affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. He recognises the crucial work LWA does in offering safety, support, and hope to survivors. By participating in LWA Strictly, he aims to not only raise awareness of this important issue but also generate vital funds to continue LWA's vital services.
