Newly Appointed Oakham Mayor Cllr Paul Ainsley, makes a  Pledge to Oakham

At last nights extraordinary meeting of Oakham Town Council Cllr Paul Ainsley was appointed Chairman and Mayor of Oakham. After he accepted his office, he made the following public pledge.

"I would like to extend my sincere thanks for being given this rare honour and privilege to serve Oakham Town as Mayor and Chairman of the council.

I pledge to behave in an open, honest and transparent way as we work together to make Oakham a better place to work, rest and play. By working together, we can reinvigorate our county town.  

Oakham is the jewel in the crown of Rutland and it is time for our county town to shine once more.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Cllr Adam Lowe for all that he has achieved during his 14 years of service to this Town an do wish him all the best in his future endeavours as clerk to the council at Uppingham"
