Celebrate All Things Rutland at the Annual Rutland Day! At Oakham Castle

Celebrate All Things Rutland at the Annual Rutland Day!

Mark your calendars! The highly anticipated Rutland Day is set to take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10 am to 4 pm at the historic Oakham Castle. This year's event promises a spectacular, fun-filled celebration of everything that makes Rutland unique, and best of all, entry is completely free!

Located at the Castle Grounds in Market Place, Oakham, England's most complete Norman Great Hall will be the backdrop for a day packed with entertainment and activities for the entire family. Despite the Oakham Town Council having cancelled their own planned event, Rutland Day at the castle is going full steam ahead, ready to showcase the best of the county.

Attendees can look forward to a diverse range of live entertainment and attractions. Step back in time with The Ferrers Household, a 15th-century living history re-enactment society that will bring the past to life with authentic demonstrations and displays. The day will also feature the lively musical talents of D'Ukes Of Rutland.

Beyond the main stage, there's plenty to explore. The Discover Rutland van will be on-site offering exciting virtual reality (VR) experiences, allowing visitors to see the county from a whole new perspective. For those with a green thumb, Root & Branch will be hosting a special activity where you can create your own wildflower seed balls to take home.

In addition to these planned activities, the grounds will be filled with a variety of fun-filled attractions, stalls, and much more, ensuring there's something to captivate every member of the family.

The event is a perfect opportunity to support local businesses and community groups, all while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere. However, please note that there is no parking on site, so attendees are encouraged to use public transport or nearby public car parks.

Adding to the county's pride, MP for Rutland and StamfordAlicia Kearns, has requested the flag of Rutland fly in the New Palace Yard part of Westminster, London, a fitting tribute that highlights the county's identity on a national stage.

Come and join the festivities at Oakham Castle on September 13th for a day dedicated to celebrating Rutland! For more information, visit www.oakhamcastle.org.
