Drug Arrest Made in Uppingham Rutland as Part of Leicestershire Police Crackdown

Drug Arrest Made in Uppingham as Part of Leicestershire Police Crackdown

A driver was arrested in Uppingham this afternoon as part of Leicestershire Police's ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime in Rutland.  The arrest followed a brief pursuit after the driver attempted to avoid police.

According to a local officer, the vehicle in question was spotted in Uppingham earlier today, with officers suspecting it was being used to transport drugs into the town.  Upon noticing a police car, the driver changed course and headed towards Leicestershire.

Undeterred, the officer pursued the vehicle and brought it to a stop.  During the subsequent interaction, it was discovered that the driver was wanted by another county's police force for drug offences.  The driver was immediately arrested on these outstanding charges.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was also uninsured to drive the vehicle.  As a result, the car was seized and removed from the road, and the driver was additionally reported for driving offences.

This arrest highlights Leicestershire Police's commitment to tackling drug crime in Rutland.  The force encourages residents to report any suspicious activity to help keep the community safe.
