Victoria Hall Seeks Energetic Venue Manager (Part-time/Flexible)

Calling all event enthusiasts! The Victoria Hall, a historic Grade II listed building in Oakham, Rutland, is seeking a part-time Venue Manager to join their team.


This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and motivated individual to play a key role in the operation and management of this vibrant community space.

Victoria Hall is a large events venue and arts centre situated in the heart of Oakham. Owned by a registered charity the hall offers a welcoming and inspiring space for a diverse range of activities, including:

Live concerts and events

Weddings and parties

Dance and fitness classes

Educational programs

Meetings

What You'll Do:

Manage the day-to-day operations of the venue, ensuring its cleanliness and smooth running.

Oversee staff and volunteers, including recruitment and scheduling.

Coordinate events from start to finish, ensuring seamless execution.

Build and maintain relationships with tenants and regular users of the space.

Assist with marketing efforts to promote the venue and upcoming events.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and legal requirements.

Coordinate access to the hall and maintain security.

Who You Are:

A highly organised individual with a strong ability to prioritise and work independently.

Possess excellent communication skills across all channels (verbal, written, and telephone).

An IT whiz, especially comfortable with email management and digital scheduling tools.

Adaptable and flexible, willing to work varied hours based on event bookings.

Bonus Points:

Experience in local marketing and promotion.

A passion for arts, music, and entertainment.

Prior experience in hospitality, event management, or arts venues.

Basic knowledge of building and facilities management.

The Schedule:

This part-time position requires flexibility. While a minimum of 15-20 hours per week spread across three days is guaranteed, busier weeks might require up to 40 hours. The hall operates seven days a week, so some weekend and/or evening hours are necessary. However, there's the option to manage casual staff if full-time equivalent hours aren't feasible.
