The Role: Leading the Sound of Oakham
Working hand-in-hand with the Director of Music, the Head of Instrumental Studies will be a cornerstone of the department’s co-curricular life. The role is a blend of artistic direction, staff management, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensemble Leadership: Taking the baton to direct the school’s Big Band and Concert Band, while overseeing the broader jazz and wind ensemble provision.
Staff Management: Line-managing a dedicated team of Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs) to ensure that the hundreds of individual lessons taught weekly remain at the highest standard.
Departmental Momentum: Collaborating on major performances, ranging from intimate Chapel choral works to grand Gala Concerts at prestigious national venues.
