Brooke Road in Oakham to Reopen Fully Next Week

After months of closure, Brooke Road in Oakham is set to reopen fully on Monday, November 18th. The road and level crossing have been closed since July 22nd to accommodate essential highway and utility works as part of the Brooke Road Allotments Development.

The closure was initially expected to last until the end of November but was extended due to unforeseen delays encountered by the developer, Burmor Construction Ltd. However, Burmor Construction is now scheduled to complete its highway works and reopen the road to both vehicles and pedestrians by 5:00 PM on Friday, November 15th.

A brief closure is still planned for Sunday, November 17th, between 7:30 AM and 2:30 PM, to allow Network Rail to conduct a scheduled inspection of the Brooke Road Level Crossing.

Both Burmor Construction Ltd and Rutland County Council have expressed their gratitude to Oakham residents and businesses for their patience during the road closure. The closure was necessary to facilitate the construction of 40 much-needed affordable homes and to widen the carriageway between Cricket Lawns and Derwent Drive, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
