Final Call Have Your Say on Rutland’s Future Transport Plans Before 16 October
Rutland County Council is reminding residents, businesses, community organisations, and visitors that there is just one week left to share their views on the county’s future transport plans.
The public consultation on the updated draft Local Transport Plan (LTP4), titled Moving Rutland Forward, is approaching its final deadline on Friday 16 October 2026. Council leaders are urging anyone who has not yet responded to submit their feedback before time runs out.
The draft Local Transport Plan outlines a comprehensive strategic vision for transport across Rutland, guiding how networks are planned, managed, and funded over the next decade through to 2036.
Accompanying the main policy document is the second LTP4 Implementation Plan, which details how specific objectives and policies will be put into practice on the ground.
This updated scheme builds upon Rutland’s existing transport strategy first introduced in 2019. The refresh reflects critical changes in national transport policy, local priorities, funding opportunities, and newly available travel data.
The plan addresses key transport issues that impact daily life across the county, including:
Enhancing options for walking, wheeling, and cycling.
Improving bus networks, connectivity, and rural accessibility.
Highway maintenance, road safety measures, and parking policies.
Expanding electric vehicle (EV) charging networks and promoting sustainable choices.
Connectivity: Ensuring reliable access to jobs, education, healthcare, and essential services.
To address diverse community needs, Moving Rutland Forward is organised around five core focus areas:
Planning infrastructure for future housing and demographic changes.
Supporting local businesses, commuter routes, and regional employment connections.
Helping students and young people access schools, colleges, and training safely.
Connecting residents to healthcare, shopping, and community services.
Promoting sustainable access to countryside attractions, market towns, and leisure destinations.
How to Get Involved
The Council is actively seeking feedback on whether the proposed policies reflect local priorities or if additional challenges should be highlighted. While not every project can be funded immediately, the finalized plan will form the essential groundwork for future government funding bids and infrastructure investments.
Once the consultation closes, all responses will be evaluated, and a summary report will be published alongside the adopted plan explaining how public input shaped the final strategy.
