Former Leicestershire Special Constable Sentenced for Making Indecent Images of Children

Former Leicestershire Special Constable Sentenced for Making Indecent Images of Children

A former Special Police Constable from Leicestershire has been handed a two-year community order after pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.

Jamie Wallace, 21, was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court following his previous guilty pleas at Leicester Magistrates Court.

Key Sentencing Details, A two-year community order including 70 hours of unpaid work, ordered to sign the register for a period of five years, imposed for five years to manage risk and ordered to pay £150 in costs alongside a £114 victim surcharge.

Jamie Wallace was arrested in October 2023 following intelligence received by Leicestershire Police, at which point he was a serving Special Constable.

The investigation, led by the force's online abuse team, involved the seizure and forensic analysis of two mobile phones. The examination uncovered a total of 451 indecent images:

Category A (Most Serious): 122 images

Category B: 217 images

Category C: 112 images

Investigators established that Jamie Wallace's offending took place over a five-year period, between December 2018 and October 2023.

Chief Constable David Sandall condemned the former officer's actions, emphasising the force's zero-tolerance approach to such crimes.

“This offending is horrific. It is the work of our force’s online abuse team which ensured Wallace was arrested, that a full investigation was carried out and that he was left with no other option but to plead guilty in court,” Chief Constable Sandall said.

Following his initial arrest, Jamie Wallace was suspended from duty before eventually resigning. A subsequent gross misconduct hearing held in July 2024 concluded that he would have been dismissed without notice had he remained in service.

While anonymity was initially granted to Wallace during the ongoing criminal proceedings, restrictions have now been lifted following the conclusion of the investigation.
