MRI Scanner Project in Oakham Faces Delays Due to Rising Costs
The proposed MRI scanner at Oakham Enterprise Park, which was announced in 2023, has faced significant delays due to the current economic climate.
LLR Patient Care Locally, the organisation spearheading the project, confirmed that rising costs have forced them to temporarily halt the initiative. "The project is currently on hold," a spokesperson for LLR Patient Care Locally stated. "The significant cost increases caused by the current economic climate have made it challenging to proceed as planned."
Despite the setback, LLR Patient Care Locally remains committed to bringing the MRI scanner to Rutland. They are currently in active discussions with Rutland County Council and exploring alternative funding sources to revive the project.
"We are exploring all possible avenues to secure the necessary funding and bring this vital healthcare resource to the community," the spokesperson added.
The proposed MRI scanner at Oakham Enterprise Park was intended to improve access to diagnostic imaging services for residents of Rutland and surrounding areas. Currently, patients often face long waiting times for MRI scans, requiring them to travel long distances for appointments.
The community has expressed strong support for the project, recognising its potential to enhance healthcare access and improve patient outcomes.
LLR Patient Care Locally has assured the public that they will continue to work diligently to overcome the current challenges and bring the MRI scanner project to fruition.
