Two Women Arrested After Serious Collision in Rutland
Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision that occurred on the A606 Empingham Road in Rutland on Sunday, December 8th.
Shortly before 6:45 am, police were called to the scene near the junction with Water Lane. A 20-year-old man was found at the side of the road with a serious leg injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment of head, leg, and pelvic injuries, which are thankfully not considered life-threatening.
Investigators believe a black Audi Q2 was involved in the collision and was later found abandoned in Oakham. Two women, both 20 years old, were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless/inconsiderate driving, drink driving, and failing to stop at the scene of the accident. They have since been released under investigation.
"Our investigation is very much continuing," said PC Ellise Timmins of the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU). "We are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who witnessed the collision or motorists with dashcam footage that captured the incident or the black Audi Q2 beforehand. Any information you can provide could be crucial."
Police are asking anyone with information to:
