A Festive Message from Oakham's Mayor Cllr Paul Ainsley, Oakham Town Council.

A Festive Message from Oakham's Mayor Cllr Paul Ainsley, Oakham Town Council.

As the festive season approaches, I am delighted to share some exciting news and initiatives from your Town Council.

To make your Christmas shopping experience even more enjoyable, we're pleased to announce free parking on Saturdays in the lead-up to Christmas.

Looking Ahead to a Brighter Future

As I look ahead to the New Year, I am committed to revitalising our town centre. The Council is planning a thorough spring clean to refresh our public spaces and create a more welcoming environment.

We're also making significant strides in several key projects:

  • Church Street Toilets Refurbishment: We're investing in upgrading our public facilities, ensuring they're clean, modern, and accessible for all.
  • Royces Recreation Ground Development: We're working to enhance this popular green space, creating a vibrant hub for outdoor activities and community events.
  • Princess Avenue Dance Studio: We've submitted a pre-planning application for a new building with a Community Café and public toilets, fostering a sense of community and providing essential amenities.
  • Victoria Hall: We're collaborating with the trustees to secure the long-term future of this historic landmark, preserving our cultural heritage for generations to come.

Get Involved

I believe that a strong community is essential to a thriving town.

If you're passionate about making a difference, I encourage you to get involved.

On behalf of the Town Council, I wish all Oakham residents a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025. May the festive season bring joy, peace, and good health to you and your loved ones.
