Craft, Creativity, and Community: A Glimpse into the Rutland Flower Show 2025

Craft, Creativity, and Community: A Glimpse into the Rutland Flower Show 2025

The Rutland Flower Show 2025 at the Showground in Oakham promises a spectacular blend of horticultural excellence and handcrafted artistry. This year’s event showcases not only stunning floral and garden displays but also a remarkable collection of local and independent creators, each bringing their unique vision to the heart of Rutland.

Inspired Show Gardens and Floral Installations

The show gardens are set to be a major highlight, with designers bringing compelling themes to life. Garden designer Andrew Jackson will present a poetic show border inspired by the 19th-century English nature poet John Clare, weaving storytelling and native planting into a deeply thoughtful space.

Another must-see is the show border created by the husband-and-wife duo, Angela Wheatley of Rutland Florals and Jonathan Wheatley of Stamford and Rutland Garden Maintenance. Their shared love for planting and floral structure promises a display rich with inspiration.

Bill Finbow Landscaping will also be creating a show garden, known for their expertise in raised beds and unusual plant varieties, and featuring their spectacular wisteria display. Sam Kettle of Stamford Landscapes will present a relatable and beautiful show garden themed around "reclaiming your garden as the children grow up," offering practical ideas for transforming a chaotic space into a peaceful one.

Adding to the visual feast, local florist Georgia Joy Floral Design, a show sponsor, will be decorating the iconic bandstand with one of her signature, romantic floral installations—a perfect photo opportunity and a true showstopper for the event.

Crafted with Purpose: From Aprons to Art

Beyond the gardens, the show is a treasure trove of unique, handcrafted goods. You'll find functional and stylish workwear from Napron, who specialize in beautifully designed aprons and utility wear perfect for gardeners and makers.

For those who appreciate unique art and homewares, the variety is immense. Michelle McLeod, Rutland’s own cartoon artist, will be showcasing her hand-cut and painted cartoon figures, as well as bespoke illustrations of pets and homes. The delightful Prim and Dotty brings handmade textile gifts and homewares, while Nash Woodcrafts and Stamford Oak Creations offer stunning gifts and accessories made from sustainably sourced timber.

Sustainable and ethical crafts are also a key feature. Care 4 Basket, an inspiring non-profit, will be selling beautiful baskets made from recycled plastic by skilled artisans in Ghana, supporting sustainable livelihoods. Eco-Pebble will offer a range of eco-conscious, zero-waste homewares and accessories.

Artists will be well-represented, including Catherine Shaw with her hand-painted illustrations inspired by wildlife, and Colourful Outlook, who will display their vibrant stained glass art. For those looking for something personal, Lezzeri jewellery offers pieces infused with uplifting messages from nature.

Everything for the Garden and Home

Whether you’re looking to furnish your outdoor space or bring nature indoors, the show has you covered. Tristen May Limited will bring their beautifully crafted metal gardenware, and GAP Garden Products will showcase their British-made metal garden structures. Fry’s Teak Garden Furniture will be present with their sustainable teak furniture and hand-carved sculptures.

For interior inspiration, Botanical Interior Design will demonstrate how to bring the outside in with sustainable home décor and living plant displays. The National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS) will be represented by accredited demonstrator Lynne Sharpe, who will be giving live floral art demonstrations. You can find more about NAFAS at www.nafas.org.uk.

With so much to see and experience, the Rutland Flower Show 2025 is a celebration of craftsmanship, creativity, and the community.
