Oakham Town Council to Hold Public Meeting: Key Decisions on the Agenda

Oakham residents are invited to attend the upcoming meeting of Oakham Town Council, scheduled for Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Town Council Offices, Rol House, Long Row, Oakham, LE15 6LN.

This meeting presents an opportunity for the public to engage with their local council and witness the decision-making process firsthand. It is important to note that the meeting is open to both the press and the public, and attendees should be aware that filming and recording may occur.

Key Agenda Items:

The meeting's agenda covers a wide range of topics,  Here's a breakdown of the key items to be discussed:

Public Deputations: The meeting will begin with an opportunity for members of the public to address the council, in accordance with Standing Orders. This allows residents to voice their concerns and opinions directly to their elected representatives.

Financial Matters: Councillors will review and approve the bank statements and reconciliation for January 2025. They will also consider and approve significant expenditures exceeding £5,000, ensuring transparency and responsible financial management.   

Policy Review and Approval: Several important policies will be discussed, including those related to councillor email and communications, and the flying of flags by Oakham Town Council.   

Community Events and Initiatives: The council will  be asked to approve the Beacon Lighting Event in Cutts Close for VE Day, a significant community celebration. They will also consider the quote for this year's flower displays, and a request from Oakham in Bloom for planter enhancement.

Allotments and Facilities: The meeting will address the new lease agreements for allotments, ensuring the continued availability of these valuable community resources. Additionally, quotations for a new boiler in Victoria Hall will be considered.

War Memorial and Community Support: The council will consider a request for a grant to clean the War Memorial, demonstrating their commitment to preserving local heritage. They will also discuss supporting the "Save Rutland" campaign, a matter of significant local interest.

Asset Management: The Asset Register 2025 will be reviewed, ensuring the council's assets are properly managed and maintained.

Next Meeting: The date and time of the next meeting is scheduled for April 9th, 2025.

Public Participation:

Oakham Town Council encourages public participation. A designated period is allocated for residents to ask questions. At other times, public participation is at the discretion of the Chairman, who may adjourn the meeting to allow for public input.
