Morris Dancers Converge on Rutland to Celebrate 50 Years of Dancing

Over 130 Morris dancers from across the country descended upon Oakham Castle this morning to mark the 50th anniversary of the Rutland Morris Dancers. The dancers, representing various sides and traditions, gathered at the historic landmark to perform a series of spirited dances.

The festivities began at 9.45 AM with a lively performance inside the castle and outside.

After their performance in Oakham, the Morris dancers boarded a bus and two coaches to embark on a dancing tour of Rutland. They visited various villages and landmarks throughout the county, spreading joy and tradition with their energetic performances.

The 50th-anniversary celebration was a fitting tribute to the hard work and passion of the Rutland Morris Dancers. As they continue to dance into the future, they will undoubtedly remain a cherished part of the county's vibrant cultural landscape.
